American Medical Association Recognizes Obesity as 'Disease'

CBS: Dr. Mitchell Roslin, Chief of Obesity Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, joins UTTM to discuss the American Medical Association officially recognizing obesity as a disease.

“If we don’t view it as a disease, and a young child goes to the doctor and the child is severely overweight, and the doctor says, ‘We need to begin treatment,’ people are going to say, ‘Oh, that’s offensive.’ We need to start putting the paradigm for treatment in place so that we address people at a younger time.”
