Chris Wallace to NRA’s Chris Cox: ‘Is It Right’ to Use Class Warfare in Gun Debate?

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” National Rifle Association’s Chris Cox got into a heated exchange with host Chris Wallace over the use of so-called class warfare.

After Cox pointed out Hillary Clinton has armed security, Wallace replied, “Is it right to turn it into class warfare if you are for gun control you are part the elite?”

Cox responded, “It is not class warfare, it is what the American people want. The American people want to protect themselves and defend themselves.”

Wallace said, “That’s actually true. Yes, the Second Amendment, but if you talk about background checks — let me just say that there are a lot of people, the majority of people would like to see the gun controls. I am put off at the argument if you believe in gun control, you are elite. I have to tell you, I know very few people outside of public officials — she was a former first lady she was a former secretary of state — who have armed bodyguards. One of the few people I know, private people, who have armed bodyguards is Wayne LaPierre.”

Wallace continued, “My point is you could not have a gun, and you can believe in gun control because you think it is dangerous. We can argue about the merits of it but to dismiss people and say it is just the elite and they have armed guards is a disservice to your argument.”
