A petition circulating already has more than 12,000 signatures calling for the removal of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan as overseer of the Republican National Convention in July where the GOP nominee will be selected.

The petition, titled, “Remove Paul Ryan as the RNC Chairperson at the convention,” launched on May 7 and now has 12,266 signatures. It’s been shared more than 17,000 times.

The petition reads:

Since Paul Ryan has reneged on his pledge to support the GOP Nominee (Donald Trump,) he should be removed as the chairperson of the Republican National Convention, in which delegates of the United States Republican Party will choose the party’s nominees for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States in the 2016 national election will be held July 18–21, 2016.

Ryan is set to meet with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump on Thursday in Washington, D.C.

The meeting was scheduled after Ryan said last week that he wasn’t ready to support Trump as the presumptive nominee during an appearance on CNN after Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich suspended their campaigns after the Indiana primary.
