Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Endorses Chris McDaniel for Senate in MS

On Wednesday, the Tea Party Patriots’ super PAC endorsed Mississippi State Senator Chris McDaniel in his campaign against six-term incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS).

“Chris McDaniel is a citizen leader committed to fighting for personal freedom, economic freedom, and a debt free future,” Jenny Beth Martin, chairman of Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, said in a press release.

Martin continued:

Unlike the incumbent, Chris McDaniel has not been in the Senate since Richard Nixon was President, has not voted for literally tens of trillions of dollars of spending – “borrowed” from our children and grandchildren – and has never voted to raise the debt ceiling. Chris McDaniel is just the kind of Senator Mississippi needs.

The Citizens Fund was formed to “provide the tools, resources, and information the American people need to hold elected officials and government accountable, as well as elect new citizen activists to office as representatives of the people.” The group “prides itself on selecting and supporting candidates who not only espouse true principles that affirm life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but have the fortitude, integrity, and political skills necessary to carry those principles into office.”

“Forty-one years in Washington and 35 years in the Senate is a long time, especially when you’ve spent a large portion of that time on the wrong side of the American people,” Martin stated.

Highlighting Cochran’s flaws, the Tea Party Patriots leader said:

Thad Cochran was wrong to raise the debt ceiling, he was wrong to vote for a Farm Bill that spends literally hundreds of billions of borrowed dollars on food stamps, and he was wrong to vote to shut down the best chance we’ve had in years to reverse the horrors of ObamaCare. That’s just not the kind of Senator Mississippi needs, and that’s another reason we’re supporting Chris McDaniel.

Last week, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed McDaniel and said the Senate race in Mississippi represented a clear fight between the conservative grassroots and the entrenched permanent political class in Washington.

Palin said:

The Mississippi Senate race is a clear fight for the future of the Republican Party against the entrenched interests of the permanent political class in D.C. We desperately need new conservative leaders in the U.S. Senate who will serve with passion, intelligence, and integrity.”

Palin emphasized that McDaniel was “in this race not for career, but for conservative change.” She stated that McDaniel has “taken on special interests in defense of our private property rights against the abuse of eminent domain, and he’s introduced legislation to protect our 2nd Amendment rights against federal government overreach.”
