Gun Control Group Targets Sheriff Fighting Federal Government Gun-Grab

Gun control advocates are targeting Sheriff Mike Lewis of Wicomico County, Maryland, who is on record as stating he will stand in the gap between his constituents and the federal government. He vows to protect the Second Amendment rights of the former, while thwarting the gun-grabbing goals of the latter.

According to DelmarvaNow, Lewis said:

As long as I’m the sheriff in this county, I will not allow the federal government to come in here and strip my citizens of their right to keep and bear arms. I can tell you this, if they attempt to do that, it would be an all-out civil war, no question about it.

In response to Lewis’s determination to protect and defend his constituents’ God-given right to keep and bear arms, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) started an online petition seeking enough signatures to bar Lewis from teaching law enforcement skills and tactics to up-and-coming law enforcement personnel.

CSGV Communications Director Ladd Everitt said Lewis was employing “violence against [the] government essentially to effect policy decisions” and that this “[damages] the principle of political equality.” So CSGV wants to be sure Lewis does not teach other law enforcement personnel about the Bill of Rights.

On July 6, Breitbart News looked at Federalist 46, in which Founding Father James Madison presented Americans as exceptional because they were armed. Madison argued that the exceptional nature of Americans was seen in their advantage of being armed and the consequent ability an armed people possessed in being able to “unite to stop a federal government intent on using military power to topple state power.”

Madison made it clear that disarmed Europeans had no such option.
