A new app allows people looking for smokers, whether cigarettes or marijuana, to find like-minded people to date. Denver-based High There allows users to make profiles illustrating which substance they prefer to smoke.

Users who prefer marijuana can find other pot smokers; vapers can find other vapers; there is a match for everyone. One interesting feature gives the user the chance to indicate how much energy they have, thus low-energy smokers can find other slothful users; frenetic users can race alongside other manic users.

High There CEO Todd Mitchem claims the idea was stimulated by a date where his partner broke it off after having found out he smoked pot. He told Mashable: “We wanted to build a cool piece of technology that solved the problem of where do million and millions of cannabis consumers go to meet people, connect with people and build relationships … A lot of people say we’re the Tinder of weed, but that’s only one facet of the whole thing. It’s so much bigger.”

Mitchem pitched High There as a means for social networking, where pot users can discuss all aspects of using pot with others. The app is currently available in 23 states that permit medical marijuana, but geofences people in other states from utilizing it. Mitcvhem says that restriction is designed to obey laws on the books in various states.

On the other hand, Mitchem coyly states that making the app available in new states would be the equivalent of “flipping a switch,” and reveals that High There will soon reach Canada and other countries once they permit it. The app can be found on Android and soon will be seen at Apple’s App Store.

Mitchem told Co.EXIST, “That cancer patient who needs friends and support, the guy who lands in Denver and does not know where people go to buy great products legally, they can also connect. Just the other day I connected with a dude and talked back and forth for a while about life, weed, and built a friendship.”
