Marco Rubio Accidentally Hits Kid in Face with Football at Iowa Campaign Stop

At a campaign stop in Ankeny, Iowa, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio accidentally hit a kid in the face with a football.

Rubio had stopped in the Des Moines suburb on Tuesday to meet and greet voters and, at one point, began tossing footballs around with the kids.

In the short video of the incident posted to Bloomberg’s Twitter feed, the Senator is seen making a toss to one young lad who was running while looking over his shoulder for the pass, but he overshot his run and the ball smacked him the face, causing him to tumble to the ground.

Bloomberg hastened to note, “Don’t worry, the kid’s okay!”

Naturally, the errant toss was the talk of social media for many on Tuesday.

In one case, ESPN quipped that, “This pass from presidential candidate Marco Rubio wasn’t terrible … but it sure didn’t end well for the receiver.”

According to Politico, Rubio made a joke of the incident himself with a reply to ESPN, saying, “The QB always gets the blame.”
