On Friday an armed suspect allegedly followed a resident into a Kansas City apartment and was subsequently pistol whipped, then shot.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m.

According to the Kansas City Star, an apartment resident in the 500 block of Northwest 55th Terrace spotted the suspect allegedly attempting to break into his car. When he went outside the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and followed him back into the apartment. Once inside, the resident “yelled for his roommate to grab a gun.”

The suspect and the roommates fought, and the armed roommate “pistol whipped” the suspect at one point. Once the fight spilled into the hallway the armed roommate was able to fire a shot and wound the suspect, who then fled the scene. Police later arrested the suspect “in the 5000 block of North Oak Trafficway.” He was taken to a hospital and treated for a gunshot wound.
