Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s pick of Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her White House running mate was met with mixed reaction on social media from some of Hollywood’s most politically inclined names.

Reaction from celebrities varied from complete skepticism and derision to support to mockery.

Some celebrities took to Twitter and knocked Kaine as an anti-abortion Wall Street puppet, while others celebrated advocacy for the poor and his rigid stance against the Second Amendment.

Noted Bernie Sanders supporter Rosario Dawson retweeted liberal Nevada State Assembly Lucy Flores, who said, “Tim Kaine. Sigh…the more things change…”

Another outspoken Bernie Sanders backer and vocal Clinton critic, Susan Sarandon, retweeted a Kaine skeptic: “First the #DNCLeaks that show how they rigged the primaries, now her WallStreet approved VP #TimKaine. Good luck.”

Documentary filmaker Michael Moore railed against Clinton’s selection of Kaine as her running mate, tweeting, “Tim Kaine. Sigh. Trying to win votes from a middle that’s no longer there. Shows old political thinking. Trump picked VP to excite the base.”

In another tweet, Moore added: “Show me 1 voter gained by naming Tim Kaine. Att’n Hillary campaign: It’s not Trump who’ll beat u. It’s the people who are going to stay home.”

Hollywood film director Adam McKay blasted Kaine as a “shitty and dispiriting choice for VP. Big bank deregulator. Jeesh. This election is brutal.”

McKay continued to pile on, later mocking Clinton’s VP pick again.

Comedian Julie Klausner was also unimpressed with Kaine, choosing to poke fun at the White House hopeful.

“In @timkaine’s Twitter bio it sez he plays bluegrass, so I think we all know who Edie Brickell and Steve Martin will vote for!” Klausner quipped.

However, other celebrities were more than enthusiastic about Clinton’s decision to choose Kaine.

Tony Goldwyn, a speaker at the Democratic National Convention and longtime Clinton supporter who currently plays the president on ABC’s Scandal, tweeted, “Congrats @TimKaine!!! Such a great guy. Will be a great VP. #ClintonKaine.”

TV personality Star Jones, who is also set to speak at the DNC convention, tweeted, “Excellent choice. #ImWithHer.”

Actress Debra Messing said, “#Tim Kaine has a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood and an “F” from the #NRA. The Most #Progressive ticket in American History.”

Mia Farrow chimed in, tweeting, “Kaine took break from Harvard Law to work as Catholic missionary in Honduras. As a lawyer he worked on civil rights.”
