Peaceful Muslims torch dozens of Christian homes in Pakistan

The headline you’ll never see: “Peaceful Christians torch dozens of Muslim homes in Patterson NJ”

Blasphemy against the prophet Mohammed is a serious crime in Pakistan that can carry the death penalty. However, proof of blasphemy is rarely required.

AP StoryBut Akram Gill, a local bishop in the Lahore Christian community said the incident had more to do with personal enmity between two men — one Christian and one Muslim — than blasphemy. He said the men got into a brawl after drinking late one night, and in the morning the Muslim man made up the blasphemy story as payback. [Emphasis added]

He said the Christian community handed over to police the accused man, identified by police and Gill as Sawan Masih, when police came to the neighborhood to investigate. Then the Christians all locked up their houses and went to relatives in other areas. He said the mob was armed with hammers and steel rods and broke into houses, ransacked two churches and burned Bibles and crosses.

“Poor people were living here. They have lost all of their belongings,” he said. “Where can they go now?”

It says in Surah al Baqarah, Chapter number 2, verse 219, “Say oh Mohammad, when they ask you concerning wine and intoxicants, say to them that there is benefit. But there is also harm. And the harm outweighs the benefit, so stay away from it”

The Quran is calling us away from things which are bad for our person, and bad for society as a whole. In Surah Al Baqarah, Allah has told us that even though alchohol can have benefit, there is more harm in it for you so we should stay away.

Nothing is Islam is forbidden unless it is bad for you.

And Allah knows best.

In Pakistan apparently the mob knows best. Next time how about burning your own homes? Now can we, the United States restrict aid to this 6th Century model of intolerance?
