An illegal immigrant from Guatemala now faces charges of assaulting a Tucson Sector Border Patrol agent on Thursday. The alleged assault came shortly after the foreign national illegally crossed the border from Mexico.

Two agents patrolling the border on off-road motorcycles tracked down a pair of illegal immigrants who had just crossed the border from Mexico into Arizona. One of the agents located one of the illegal aliens, a 34-year-old Mexican national, while the second agent continued tracking the other man.  When the agent tracked down the second illegal alien, the 20-year-old Guatemalan national pulled the agent from his motorcycle and began assaulting him, according to information obtained from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials by Breitbart Texas.

The assaulted agent’s partner quickly joined him and helped restrain the man until they could place him under arrest. The illegal alien continued fighting both agents until they achieved control of the suspect, officials stated.

CBP officials said the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona will charge the Guatemalan national with assault on a federal officer. Both of the illegal immigrants are being processed by Tucson Sector agents for immigration violations.

In less than one month, at least six Border Patrol agents have been assaulted in Arizona. During the last week of November, three agents were assaulted in Arizona as they attempted to arrest illegal aliens that crossed the border, Breitbart Texas reported. A Border Patrol supervisor working alone on the evening of Thanksgiving Day came upon three Mexican nationals who had just crossed the border. One of the three became aggressive and assaulted the agent, forcing him to use pepper spray in self-defense.

A few days earlier, Tucson Sector agents came upon a group of illegal aliens that had crossed the border in the Baboquivari Mountain Range near Three Points, Arizona. As one of the agents attempted to arrest the subjects, one illegal alien became assaultive. The agent discharged his service-issued sidearm striking the foreign national. The suspect died, and agents arrested three of the illegal immigrants but the others escaped.

Another illegal alien from Mexico assaulted yet another Tucson Sector agent on November 21.  The agent attempted to arrest a 22-year-old Mexican national, but the young male resisted and threw dirt in the agent’s face.

All of these illegal aliens now face federal charges for assaulting these agents.

During Fiscal Year 2017, illegal aliens assaulted 786 Border Patrol agents in 324 incidents. This is up from 454 the previous year and represents an increase of 73 percent.
