Navy SEAL Dies in Parachute Jump Training

The elite U.S. Navy SEALs force lost one of their own due to a parachute malfunction during a training exercise Wednesday in southern California.

Few details were available in the hours following the incident that called firefighters out to Perris with reports of “skydiver down,” according to NBC San Diego. T

The SEAL was later identified as Special Warfare Operator 3rd Class Jason Kortz, a sailor with the Naval Special Warfare Group ONE. “A U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to a West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit died from injuries sustained during parachute jump training in Perris, California, March 18.”

Before the SEALs body was taken away, the body was draped in an American flag. A picture of the flag-draped SEAL was published on 10 News.
