Left Lunacy On 150th Anniversary of Civil War: Tea Party Like The Confederacy-Antithesis Of Founding Principles; Obama Product of Civil War

Today marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War (or as some of my friends call it “The War Between the States”). Almost everyone has an opinion on this tragic chapter in American history. But why can’t the political left mark this event without trying to spin it to their political advantage? Or if they can’t help themselves, at least allow to correspondent in some sense with reality.

The Agence Press France (AFP) has a wire story out today quoting from among others, Professor David Kilroy. Among his more interesting claims: “Barack Obama’s election was a watershed moment in the United States’ evolution as a multi-racial democracy, a process which has its origins in the Civil War and post-war Reconstruction.”

And then this additional stunner: “Much of the political rhetoric today is couched in absolute terms, with little or no room left for compromise and moderation,” Kilroy said. “Particularly in the Tea Party movement, there is a strong propensity to portray opposition views as the antithesis of the founding principles of the American republic, something that was common in the Civil War.”

Got that? Tea Party members who are quoting Washington and Jefferson are really the antithesis of the Founding Principles. Their heart really beats for Jefferson Davis.
