Flight of the Conchords return with 30-city North American tour

CLEVELAND, Feb. 29 (UPI) — New Zealand folk comedy duo Flight of the Conchords are returning with a newly announced 30-city North American tour.

The concert series dubbed Flight of the Conchords sing Flight of the Conchords, will begin June 11 in Cleveland, Ohio and commence July 27 in Los Angeles, Cali.

“I’m thrilled to get back on the road with over half the original band,” member Bret McKenzie said in a press release referring to this partner Jermaine Clement.

The statement also revealed that the band has “new material in the works, which they’ll showcase exclusively at these shows.”

The band have yet to release a follow-up to their 2009 album I Told You I Was Freaky which was released before the band first called it quits in 2012. McKenzie and Clement also starred in their own self-titled hit comedy series on HBO, Flight of the Conchords about the band trying to make it in America for two seasons starting in 2007.

The tour is being presented in partnership with Global Citizen, a nonprofit organization fighting global poverty. Global Citizen will be offering two tickets during each concert of the tour.
