Sept. 29 (UPI) — Anne Jeffreys, who played socialite Amanda Barrington on the ABC soap opera General Hospital for 20 years, has died at the age of 94.
“The beautiful & elegant actress, Anne Jeffreys (center), has died at 94. She was a sweetheart. RIP,” ABC-7’s George Pennacchio tweeted Wednesday, along with a photo of him with the actress and another woman.
Variety said Jeffreys was a star of stage and screen who began her career in the early 1940s. Her credits include the film Step Lively, the Broadway musicals Kiss Me, Kate and Three Wishes for Jamie, and the 1950s sitcom, Topper.
The actress was also a popular guest star who appeared in episodes of L.A. Law, Murder, She Wrote and The Delphi Bureau. Her most recent credit was in a 2013 episode of Getting On.
