March 24 (UPI) — Investigation Discovery has announced plans to air a two-night special called Boy Band Confidential in April.

“Boy Band Confidential goes beyond nostalgia. It’s an honest, unfiltered look at a cultural phenomenon that shaped an entire generation,” Jason Sarlanis, president of ID, said in a statement Tuesday.

“With Joey Fatone bringing together a who’s who of artists from the era’s most iconic boy bands, we’re illuminating the pressures, vulnerabilities, and surprising realities of life at the height of pop stardom with a level of access rarely achieved in music documentaries.”

The documentary will air on ID and stream on HBO Max on April 13-14.

It will include interviews with members of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men, O-Town and LFO.

“Being in a boy band was one of the greatest experiences of my life but it also came with challenges we didn’t always understand at the time,” said Fatone, an executive producer on the project.

“This project gave all of us a chance to reflect, to be honest, and to share what really happened behind the spotlight.”

The truth behind the era that shaped a generation. “Boy Band Confidential” dives into exploitation, manipulation, and the machinery of superstardom.
