May 3 (UPI) — A shocked Texas driver pulled out her phone and quickly captured video of the road hazard in front of her: a kangaroo hopping down the middle of the road.
Kim Zapata said she was driving Wednesday on County Road 321 in the Sweeny area of Brazoria County when the Australian marsupial appeared in the road.
“I just saw this thing in the middle of the road just hopping along,” Zapata told KTRK-TV.
Zapata captured video of the kangaroo hopping in the street.
Susan Vicars, who lives on County Road 321, posted a video to Facebook that shows what appears to be the same animal hopping next to the road. She said her husband, Mike, filmed the footage Monday.
An Austin-area family contacted KTRK-TV to say the animal might be the pet kangaroo that escaped from their home in November.
The family said they have contacted Brazoria County authorities in the hopes of capturing the kangaroo and determining whether it’s their pet, which would have traveled more than 200 miles to reach Sweeny.
