Parents of Ohio student speak out against North Korea

CINCINNATI (AP) — The parents of a young Ohioan who was detained for more than a year and died soon after being released by North Korea are describing his condition when he arrived home as they blast “terrorists” they say tortured him.

Fred and Cindy Warmbier (WARM’-beer) talked Tuesday in a “Fox & Friends” interview amid an escalating war of words between the Trump administration and North Korea.

Otto Warmbier’s father says they wanted to speak out after hearing North Korea claiming to be a victim. He says North Korea “is not a victim. They’re terrorists.”

They say the 22-year-old University of Virginia student was “jerking violently,” making inhuman sounds and staring blankly when he returned to the U.S. He died in June.

North Korea has denied mistreating the youth, sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in March 2016 for allegedly stealing propaganda poster.
