May 3 (UPI) — White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was scheduled to give an on-camera press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
The briefing was set to begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
Sanders likely will face questions about a $130,000 payment President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, made to adult film star Stormy Daniels as part of a non-disclosure agreement. Trump previously denied knowledge of the arrangement and said he didn’t provide the funds for the payment.
On Wednesday night, though, Trump’s new counsel, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Fox News the president funneled the money for Daniels through Cohen’s law firm over several months by putting him on a retainer.
The former New York City mayor said the payments did not come from Trump’s 2016 campaign, and the reimbursement to Cohen was “perfectly legal.” He added the president was “probably not aware” of the payment to Daniels at the time.
