Democrat Rep: 'McConnell Sucks'

Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.) speaking at an event for the Jefferson County Democratic Party in Kentucky said, “I can be really brief tonight and just say, Mitch McConnell sucks.”

McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton said that Yarmuth ‘s remark was “classless. The liberals are coming completely unhinged.”

Yarmuth joined likely Senate candidate Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes at the event. Grimes has whined about McConnell’s tactics in devaluing actress and potential opponent Ashley Judd, saying, “I will tell you that the bully tactics that we see displayed are a continuation of those exemplified in the recording that has surfaced by Mitch McConnell. And this Kentucky woman won’t be bullied.”

Yarmuth may think that McConnell sucks, but he himself is emblematic of those in the government who think the federal government has the power to do virtually anything. In August of 2010, Yarmuth was asked where Congress got the authority to require all Americans to buy health insurance. Yarmuth answered the authority came from the commerce clause. When he was then asked what the federal government couldn’t do if it could mandate citizens to buy a product, Yarmuth said, “It really doesn’t prohibit the government from doing virtually anything – the federal government. So I don’t know the answer to your question, because I am not sure there is anything under current interpretation of the commerce clause that the government couldn’t do.”

The man believes that the federal government can do anything and he thinks McConnell sucks?
