Confusion Reigns as CA Insurers Delay Payment Deadlines

On Tuesday, California health insurance executive said they would delay the payment deadlines for Obamacare enrollees due to widespread confusion over enrollment. Anthem Blue Cross of California announced that new enrollees would have to pay their first bills by January 31; Kaiser Permanente said that the deadline would be January 22. The state exchange, however, has stuck to its position that the deadline would be midnight on January 15 for enrollees in other insurers.

The date on payment has changed repeatedly for enrollees in Covered California, with confusion reigning thanks to paper application delays and payment glitches. Many who have enrolled still are awaiting confirmation of enrollment or invoices for payment, and some have been mistakenly told that they are not enrolled.
