Census Report: Less Than 10% of Californians Born in Mexico Have College Degrees

India leads the way in median household income for Californian immigrants, broken down by nation of birth.

Californians born in India earned a median household income of $110,000 in 2013, according to a recent review of U.S. Census data by the Sacramento Bee.

While Americans born in India topped the list in median income, those who were born in Mexico maintained the lowest median household income with $40,000.00.

Californians born in the Philippines, England or France were high on the list of earned median household incomes, all of which averaged at least $80,000.

The median household income for all Californians when looked at as a whole, not considering birthplace, was approximately $61,000 in 2013.

The Bee cited that education and completing college as the number one factor in improving one’s income.

About 80 percent of California householders born in India received at least a bachelor’s degree. In contrast, less than 10 percent of California householders born in Mexico have a bachelors degree.
