Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton says she’s not politically toxic, and that her Republican political colleagues actually like her and would work with her if she is elected president.
“When I was in the Senate, I worked with practically every Republican I served with,” she said. “And they all have nice things to say about me when I’m not running for something.”
Clinton spoke during a rally in Akron, Ohio, where she’s trying to reduce Donald Trump’s lead in the state. She lamented that the country is divided, but vowed to get government working again if elected president.
“There is too much divisiveness, too much finger-pointing and scapegoating,” she said. “There is a lot we can do if we start listening and respecting each other and avoid the kind of name-calling and insults that we see too much of.”
Clinton has focused her campaign on repeatedly ridiculing her Republican opponent as unfit for the presidency, and dismissing his supporters.
During her rally, she boasted that she earned the endorsement of Cleveland Cavilers basketball star LeBron James.
“Now, I may become president, but he will be king of Ohio for as long as there is a king,” she said.
