President Donald Trump warned supporters on Tuesday of a “blue wave” of support for Democrats in 2018

“A Blue Wave means Crime and Open Borders,” Trump wrote about the upcoming 2018 congressional mid-term elections on Twitter. “A Red Wave means Safety and Strength!”

The president has repeatedly highlighted tough immigration enforcement as a priority and a key issue in the upcoming midterm elections.

“I am sorry to have to reiterate that there are serious and unpleasant consequences to crossing the Border into the United States ILLEGALLY!” Trump added on Twitter. “If there were no serious consequences, our country would be overrun with people trying to get in, and our system could not handle it!”

At an event honoring the heroes of ICE on Monday, Trump appeared optimistic about the upcoming elections.

“I think we’re going to do very well in the midterms, and this is one of the very big reason. The fact is, people respect law and order, and they love our law enforcement,” he said.

Trump said he wanted to continue building the wall, predicting $5 billion in new funding in the coming year.

“We’re building the wall, step-by-step and it’s not easy because we have a little opposition called, ‘the Democrats,’” he said.
