Baseball Agent Jay-Z Raps About Obama, Cuba

The Major League Baseball Players Association said Friday it had received an application from rapper Jay-Z to be a baseball agent the same day he released “Open Letter,” which includes the lyrics, “Obama said, ‘Chill you gonna get me impeached.’ You don’t need this s— anyway, chill with me on the beach.'” Jay-Z took his new wife Beyonce to Cuba several months after their $40,000 a person fundraiser for President Obama, and the White House is denying they gave him approval for the trip.

In the decades since the Communist takeover of Cuba by a pretty strong baseball player Fidel Castro, many Cubans left the country and made it to the major leagues. They include Jose Canseco, Alex Sánchez, Rafael Palmeiro, Rey Ordoñez and Liván Hernández.

However, Jay-Z is more likely focused on his first baseball client, Robinson Cano of the Yankees, who will attempt Friday to become the first player in the modern era to have three extra base hits in three consecutive games.

The signing gave Jay-Z immediate credentials as an agent, as he took Cano from super-agent Scott Boras. For the AP story on his application to become a baseball agent, click here.
