Report: U.S. Troops Seek Authority to Attack Taliban Again

U.S. military troops are trying to persuade their commander-in-chief, President Barack Obama, to once again grant them the authority to carry out offensive operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan, reports the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

General: U.S. Increases Airstrikes Against Afghan Islamic State

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Obama administration has “significantly” increased its air strikes against the Islamic State branch in Afghanistan since the president granted commanders broader authority last month to target the jihadist group there, a U.S. military spokesman said on Thursday.
