Gohmert: Grand Juries Do Have Pro-Cop Bias

Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX), a former attorney and judge declared that grand jurors “usually have a bias” in favor of the police while guest-hosting on Tuesday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”

While Gohmert blasted “anarchists” “opportunists” “power-mongers” for whipping up anti-police rhetoric, he went on to say “from my experience, grand jurors usually have a bias. They do. But it’s not a bias out of race or gender or national origin. What you normally see in a grand jury bias is a bias in favor of those who put their lives on the line to keep the peace. Saw it over and over. Sometimes there were officers that didn’t deserve the kind of feeling they got from grand jurors, but most of the time they really did.”

He later added that people should remember the heroism of many police officers and that “the percentage of problem cops is only a very tiny fraction of what the ratio of bad to good is in our general population.”
