Ryan on Budget Deal: ‘This Process Stinks’

The House Ways and Means Committee Chairman and odds-on favorite to be next House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said he was not happy with “the process” of the pending budget deal announced Monday night and negotiated by outgoing Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) with the White House.

Paul said, “I’m reserving judgment on in agreement because I quite frankly haven’t seen it yet. I want to see what it looks like on paper. About the process, I can say this. I think this process stinks. This is not the way to do the people’s business. And under new management, we are not going to do the people’s business this way. We are against the deadline. That’s unfortunate. But going forward, we can’t do the people’s business. as a conference, we should have been meeting months ago discuss these things for a unified strategy going forward.”
