Podesta: ‘Big Question’ Whether Trump Will Do Remaining Debates, ‘Maybe It Would Be Smart’ If He Didn’t

During MSNBC’s coverage of the first presidential debate, Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta said there was a “big question now” whether Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would do the remaining two debates and “maybe it would be smart if his campaign manager pulled — just pulled him out of those two debates, because he was a disaster tonight.”

When asked if he thought Trump would refuse to do the other two debates, Podesta said, “I think there’s a big question now, whether he will do the other two debates.”

Podesta later stated, “[I]f he couldn’t answer the questions that were being posed, which were really kind of, big, answer any way you want to from Lester, how’s he going to stand in front of an audience and a town hall, and answer very specific questions of what’s on people’s mind about their healthcare, the economy, how he’s going to make jobs work. He had no plans really. So, I think it’s really a questionable whether it’s –maybe it would be smart if his campaign manager pulled — just pulled him out of those two debates, because he was a disaster tonight.” He added that this prospect was “possible.”
