Sunday following the second presidential debate on MSNBC, long-time Clinton ally and Democratic strategist James Carville gave Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton high marks for her performance during that debate.
Partial transcript as follows:
I thought she did a really good job talking about her career in politics, I thought she did a really good job of engaging the audience. I thought she was the energy question was kind of unbelievable. And I don’t know how we got– fell into this loop that he convinced no one, but he had a good night. I thought that the visuals worked really well for her. And I just can’t believe that anybody’s going to be convinced by a stunt of bringing out something that happened in the ’90s that’s been adjudicated in elections time and time again. And that has been sort of decided.
It sure gave a whole retro feeling to me. I really give her high marks for engaging the questioners… She locked on to them and had a conversation with them. I was watching him stalk in the background, trying to lord over her. I don’t know what he was trying to do. I did not see her get rattled. I’ll be honest with you. I was sitting there saying she’s, she’s got to be furious because the guy is being so rude. I thought she stayed on point. I really feel very good about how she did and I feel very, very good about defending her performance tonight.
