A political organization dedicated to empowering more Hispanic voters and donors is ready to celebrate Cinco De Mayo like it’s 1862.

In a statement from the Latino Victory fund, president Cristobal J. Alex urged Latinos to celebrate the holiday celebrating Mexico’s historic victory over France by fighting Donald Trump.

“We cannot allow politicians like Trump to demonize our community and threaten the essence of this diverse and welcoming country,” he wrote. “We are under attack, and just like Mexicans fought in 1862 to protect their loved ones and their land, we must now fight back with our voice and our vote.”

Alex condemned Trump, citing his “racist, anti-immigrant, anti-Latino and anti-Mexican rhetoric” for hurting Latinos in America.
