Interior Department Official Investigated Over Possible Corruption

The Obama Administration Interior Department has famously attempted to shut down vast swaths of federal lands to oil drilling. Their corruption is well known. Nonetheless, the latest scandal from the Interior Department is particularly worthy of note.

Over the weekend, Interior Department Assistant Secretary for Insular Affairs was placed on administrative leave while an investigation into her activities takes place. Apparently, Tony Babauta has been allegedly gaming the travel and grant system under the Interior Department’s control. There are few details available, but suffice it to say that the Interior Department’s corruption is rife. As Michelle Malkin puts it: “The fish rots from the head down. And boy, are things smelling extra-pungent at the U.S. Interior Department.”

The past several months have seen the price of gold slump even as the Fed and other central banks have accelerated their massive expansion of paper money. Gold is off about 20% so far this year with silver down almost 30%. The old adage--“don’t fight the Fed”--particularly comes to mind now because the US equity markets have been setting new highs during this same period. All of these gains are nominal, you understand, but for terrified American policy makers and investors, nominal is just fine.
