More than 50 rounds were fired in a parking lot at Fashion Island in Newport Beach today by a 42-year-old male gunman, Newport Beach Police reported. He fired the shots at approximately 4:30 p.m. and was quickly arrested by officers on bicycle patrol. Nobody was hurt.

A handgun was found at the shooting, but the police did not reveal any more information. Shoppers were reportedly terrified by the incident, which comes in the wake of the horrific shootings at Sandy Brook Elementary in Connecticut.
