Boehner 'Probably' Won't Support Internet Sales Tax Bill

On Tuesday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said he “probably” would not support the online sales tax bill the Senate passed on Monday. 

“I just think that moving this bill where you have 50 different sales tax codes, it is a mess out there,” Boehner said. “You are going to make it much more difficult for online businesses to be able to comply with it.”

When specifically asked about whether he would support the bill, Boehner replied, “probably not.”

After the Senate passed the bill by a a 69-27 vote, prominent Republicans like former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin urged Republicans in the House to reject the online sales tax bill. The bill faces a much tougher road in the House.
