Hispanic NYC Mayoral Candidate: Weiner Must Apologize for 'Very Insulting' Carlos Danger Alias
On Thursday, a Hispanic New York City mayoral candidate demanded that former Rep. and fellow candidate Anthony Weiner apologize for using the alias "Carlos Danger" to continue his sexting escapades after he resigned from Congress in 2011.
Rev. Erick Salgado, who is of Puerto Rican descent, said it was "very insulting" to the Hispanic community that Weiner used a "Spanish name" to "hide behind his bad behavior."
“I believe he have [sic] to apologize to the Latino community. Every time many people do wrong behavior [sic], it’s always a Carlito, a Pedrito, a Miguelito," he said. But behind that name, it was really not a Carlito. It was a ‘Anthony Weiner.’ You have to apologize to the Latino community. It is an insult."
Salgado said it was also "disturbing" that some in the New York press said "there is no Latino candidate in this race other than Carlitos Danger."
"There is a Latino candidate candidate other than Carlitos Danger in this race and his name is not Carlitos Danger, it's Erick Salgado," he said.
