Ex-Dem Gov. Schweitzer Apologizes for Calling Cantor, Southern Men 'Effeminate'

Former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer took to Facebook to apologize for a number of outrageous comments the Democrat made to a journalist this week, including referring to all Southern men as “effeminate” and claiming Republican Eric Cantor set off his “gaydar.”

“Don’t hold this against me, but I’m going to blurt it out. How do I say this … men in the South, they are a little effeminate,” Schweitzer said. “They just have effeminate mannerisms. If you were just a regular person, you turned on the TV, and you saw Eric Cantor talking, I would say — and I’m fine with gay people, that’s all right — but my gaydar is 60-70 percent.”

Schweitzer also apologized for using a prostitute/nun analogy to criticize what he sees as Dem. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s shifting positions on the issue domestic surveillance.

Schweitzer is considered a potential presidential candidate in 2016.
