AC Milan vice president Paolo Berlusconi, the younger brother of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, used a racial slur to describe his team's newly-acquired soccer star Mario Balotelli, who is black. He also invited "all the young ladies" to meet his brother.
"Okay, we are all off to see the family's little n-----. He's a crazy head. All the young ladies are invited as well -- you can even have a chance to meet the president (Silvio Berlusconi)," he said at a political rally.
His comments translate to "little black boy" or "little negro." In a symbol of how different European countries are from America, Italians have often chanted that a black soccer player can never be a full Italian when Balotelli started for the national soccer team.
According to reports, Paolo Berlusconi was attending a political rally for Italy's People of Freedom party when he made the comments, which local reporters caught on film.
Balotelli made his debut for his new team on Sunday.
