'LONG LIVE HITLER' Tweeted by Malaysian Politician Bung Mokhtar Radin After Germany Win Print article Send a Tip from UPI 9 Jul 2014 post a comment PETALING JAYA, Malaysia, July 9 (UPI) -- A Malaysian politician took to Twitter after Germany's 7-1 win over Brazil in the World Cup semifinal, but instead of offering up his praise to a scorer on the winning squad, he chose to go with Adolf Hitler. WELL DONE..BRAVO...LONG LIVE HITLER...— Bung Moktar Radin (@MyKinabatangan) July 8, 2014 Bung Mokhtar Radin, a Malaysian Parliament member, refused to apologize for the Hitler-hailing tweet. "I don't know what's wrong with people sometimes. Hitler is part of history and the German team fought like how he did," Bung told the Star Online. He maintains that the tweet was just for fun and that people need to loosen up. Some people agree... How many of these @MyKinabatangan haters have been to Germany lately? How many? It's a new world over there, y'all are still stuck in time.— I/O (@ckliio9) July 9, 2014 Although the German government doesn't: "We strongly reject the distasteful and unacceptable allusion to the fascist regime of Adolf Hitler," the German ambassador to Malaysia, Holger Michael, told TIME. "I think people nowadays should transform their mentality. Whatever I tweet people hit me. They are not hitting me because of Hitler, but because I am Bung Mokhtar," Bung said.
