The U.S. Paralympic sledge hockey team beat Russia 1-0 for the gold medal in Sochi on Saturday in the Paralympic games, becoming the first nation to win back-to-back gold medals in the event.
Josh Sweeney scored the only goal in the second period. Sweeney, 26, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant and a Purple Heart recipient.
Mike Eruzione, of the “Miracle on Ice” team, tweeted his congratulations.
