State Dept's Psaki Declines to Say Terrorism on the Rise

On Monday at the State Department daily briefing, spokeswoman Jen Psaki declined to say that Islamic extremists are on the march, in light of al Qaeda affiliate ISIS invasion of Iraq as an attempt to establish a “caliphate.

When asked directly if terrorism is on the rise Psaki replied, “I wouldn’t put it in those terms.” The reporter then pointed to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, saying earlier this year that “Al Qaeda has metastasized,” and is gaining strength in several dangerous regional of the world. Psaki replied by offering the reporter a copy of the State Department’s terror assessment report.
