PandaCam Down, Fundraising and Marketing Continue at National Zoo

This morning the Smithsonian’s National Zoo sent out a “Happy Holidays” email

Shop And Save Species

Our animals can’t speak human. But if they could, they would thank you.

You visit them in person and on our webcams. You get e-newsletters to keep up with their milestones. Most of all, you care about their conservation.
[Emphasis added]

‘Tis the season of thanks . . . and giving. By buying a National Zoo gift, you refurbish our animals habitats, support breeding research, and provide toys that keep them physically and mentally active. And much more.

Go on, share this gift guide with your friends and family–both naughty and nice. On behalf of the animals we care for: thank you!

So, even though a vindictive President Obama ordered the PandaCam and other museum attractions closed, they’ll continue fundraising and marketing costs.  Since you can’t visit the museum your tax dollars pay for, you can at least pay for a stuffed animal — to save the species!  Given the National Zoo’s track record, it will probably last longer.
