In what may be THE turning point in the2012 Presidential campaign, last Saturday President Obama spoke at acampaign rally in Roanoke, Virginia.
If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think…Well, it must be ’cause I was just so smart! There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something, there are a whole bunch of hard working people out there. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that!”
Watch the video below for his full speech. It didn’t get any better after that.
Hiscomments struck a very tender nerve in the general populace, whether theyare business owners or not. People jumped on FaceBook and postedcreative and hilarious pictures of the president in different scenariossaying “You didn’t build that!” Their humor belied their anger at the president’s statements.
In one speech, President Obama obliterated The American Dream. Hundredsof millions of ordinary people have immigrated to America over theshort course of its history. Why? Because they know that only inAmerica can they dare to dream. They believe, as we all do,that if you work hard enough and sacrifice hard enough, you do not haveto be a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon to achieve success.
Throughhis statements, President Obama revealed exactly what he thinks aboutAmerica, and… more importantly… how he feels about this country.
We cannot condemn the president for his comments. The truth is, President Obamawas speaking from his own experience. He is where he is only becausesomeone helped him get there…this is all he knows. He has notaccomplished anything on his own! He has never had to meet apayroll, deal with the IRS, wade through all of the constantly changingrules and regulations facing small and large business owners alike. Hehas never dealt with the uncertainty that bills like the Affordable Care Act and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act create when making decisions in the operations of their companies.
Howdo we expect to get America back on the right path unless we electsomeone who understands what we all believe? Someone who has dreamedthe dream and been successful. Someone who believes in Americanexceptionalism, and will restore the very soul of our country.
The response from the Romney team?
