White House Ignores Ted Cruz Demand To Repeal Obamacare; Tough Talks Romney

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of Obamacare, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest had no reaction to Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz’s call today at Liberty University to repeal “every word” of Obamacare.

When asked for a reaction to Cruz, Earnest told reporters he had “no direct reaction” to any of the 2016 candidates.

Earnest said that Obama was “pleased” with Obamacare, noting that there would be a “robust” debate about it during the 2016 presidential campaigns.

“This will be an opportunity for all of the candidates to debate it, you know, and ultimately the American people will cast a vote accordingly,” Earnest said.

Later during the briefing, Earnest referred to former failed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s promise to repeal Obamacare.

“There was a presidential candidate who ran in 2012 promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and that campaign pledge didn’t work out very well for him,” he noted wryly.
