Police: Suspect ‘Made Entry’ into Home, Shot Dead by Homeowner

Early Sunday morning, a 25-year-old male suspect “made entry” into an Odessa, Texas, home and was shot dead by the homeowner, police report.

Police say the deceased’s name was Jake Gould.

According to News West 9, police said, “Raul Munoz’s wife woke him up around around 4:30 a.m.” after she heard “a banging noise coming from the front door.” Odessa Police Corporal Steve LeSueur said the suspect then “made entry and began to rush” Munoz, who opened fire.

Police arrived to find Gould “with multiple gunshot wounds.” He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gould’s former girlfriend, Shannell George, suggested Gould did not mean to enter the Munoz home. She said, “he was under the influence and walked into the wrong house.”

George added:

We know Jake was not that kind of person. He had no intentions of stealing anything. He was just out of it and went to the wrong house. That’s it. No stealing. No burglary. Jake was a good dad. Now my son doesn’t have a father to come home to.
