On Thursday, the hosts of Fox & Friends were shocked at a new Government Accountability Institute report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the signing of Obamacare.
Breitbart News Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer unveiled the report last night on Fox News’s Hannity and on the pages of Breitbart News.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade argued that since Sebelius has admitted that she is not a “webmaster” or a “technical person,” she and Obama should have met to discuss the HealthCare.Gov website. Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck referenced the instances in which Obama has indicated he was not informed directly about the problems associated with HealthCare.Gov before the White House decided the site should go live on October 1. She marveled that there was “never a single meeting alone” between Obama and Sebelius.
Hasselbeck noted that Schweizer said on Fox News’s Hannity on Wednesday that Obama’s calendar revealed Obama did not prioritize his “signature” legislation.
“In the case of President Obama, If you look at his calendar, there is no evidence whatsoever that he is focused or has much interest in health care at all,” Schweizer said.
Co-host Steve Doocy echoed Schweizer’s sentiment and noted that after the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) spent $30 million to get Obama elected, Obama met with top SEIU executives more than 50 times at the White House.
“Maybe he is more interested in having the job than doing the job,” Doocy said, noting that Obama recently said he would like to host SportsCenter‘s “Top 10 plays” segment once he leaves office.
Hasselbeck, whose husband is an ESPN analyst, said she was “speechless.”
She then asked Americans watching the show from their breakfast tables how it made them feel that the “president met with Kathleen Sebelius just one time?”
Kilmeade then said even the New York Times is now reporting that Democrats want “senior-level people” accountable for the botched rollout of the plan.
As Breitbart News reported, the Government Accountability Institute report found that since Obamacare was signed on March 23, 2010, Obama met with “various Cabinet secretaries a total of 277 times.”
The presidential schedule did not “document a single one-on-one meeting” with Sebelius, though there was “one instance of Secretary Sebelius meeting jointly with the President and Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner.”
During that time, according to the White House schedule and visitor logs that GAI examined, Obama “met with secretaries from the Departments of Defense, State, and Treasury for 263 (95%) out of his 277 face-to-face meetings.” He also had meetings with “secretaries from the Departments of Agriculture, Education, Justice, Energy, Homeland Security, Interior, Labor, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs… [including] two meetings with the Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus (not an official Cabinet level post).”
As Breitbart News reported, GAI “recorded listings as they were contained on the White House and Politico presidential calendars; other forms of communications, such as private emails or phone calls, are not able to be quantified.”
As Breitbart News noted, Schweizer said on Hannity that GAI also looked at White House visitor logs and found that whenever Sebelius went to the White House, it was for social functions with “dozens or hundreds of people.” And he noted that if Obama met with Sebelius and left the meeting off the books, Sebelius would be the only cabinet secretary whose meetings with the White House were concealed.
