FBI Finds ‘Items’ in Lake near San Bernardino Attack Site

On Saturday night, the FBI revealed it had found some items in its search of Seccombe Lake, roughly two miles from the San Bernardino massacre.

ABC News reported that the FBI believes that Syed Farook and Tashfeen Mailk, who massacred 14 people and wounded 20 others, may have gone to the lake to dump evidence after the terrorist attack. On Thursday, the FBI admitted investigators were looking for “anything that had to do” with the massacre.

Although David Bowdich, the assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, would not reveal what the search intended to find,he did confirm that the two terrorists were in the area “at some point,” according to CNN.

Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI, would only say, “I’d caution you that divers generally pull all sorts of items out of a public lake.”

The FBI has been checking into Farook and Malik’s online activities; FBI Director James Comey said the agency discovered online discussions about jihad between Farook and Malik from late 2013, even before they began dating.

On Sunday, the New York Times revealed that Malik had written numerous social media postings in favor of violent jihad.
