Two Israelis Kidnapped, Then Released, in Turkey

The Times of Israel reports: Two Israeli students from the Bedouin village of Rahat in the Negev who had been studying in Armenia were kidnapped — and later released — by an unidentified group in Turkey, Israeli authorities said Saturday.

The kidnappers demanded that the students’ families pay a ransom, or else the two would be sold to the Islamic State group, according to Channel 10.

The students were released Saturday, and were at a police station in the southern Turkish city of Mersin on Saturday night, the Foreign Ministry said.

The two had apparently been in Turkey in order to purchase gold.
