LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 (UPI) — Alyssa Milano defended her new breastfeeding photo in an interview published Tuesday.
The 42-year-old actress spoke to Entertainment Tonight amid backlash over a picture she posted with one-year-old daughter Elizabella on Instagram last week. Milano had celebrated the infant’s first birthday by sharing a throwback breastfeeding photo.
“I don’t care,” she said of the criticism. “I’m going to keep breastfeeding, maybe even until [Elizabella is] six! … Everyone’s fine with [Miley Cyrus’] nipples being out. I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human.”
Milano previously defended her right to breastfeed in public in December 2014. The actress and husband David Bugliari are also parents to four-year-old son Milo, and Milano quit ABC series Mistresses ahead of season 3 to take care of her children.
Milano is known for portraying Samanta Micelli on ABC sitcom Who’s the Boss, Jennifer Mancini on Fox soap opera Melrose Place and Phoebe Halliwell on The WB series Charmed. She last appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7 in May.
