Dhaka (AFP) – Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat in the first one-day international against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

Bangladesh left out Mosaddek Hossain, Nasir Hossain and Shafiul Islam from the 14-man squad while Afghanistan handed an ODI debut to Naveen-ul-Haq.

The second and third match will be held at the same venue respectively on September 28 and October 1.

Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taijul Islam, Rubel Hossain and Taskin Ahmed.

Afghanistan: Mohammad Shahzad, Shabir Noori, Rahmat Shah, Asghar Stanikzai (c), Hashmatullah Shahidi, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mirwais Ashraf, Dawlat Zadran and  Naveen-ul-Haq.

Umpires: Shamshuddin Chettithody (IND) and Sharfuddoula Saikat (BAN)

TV Umpire: Anisur Rahman (BAN)

Match Referee: Richie Richardson (WI)
