Tebow set to join Patriots: report

Tim Tebow, who has struggled in the National Football League after making a splash, has signed with the New England Patriots and is expected to take part in a Tuesday mini-camp, ESPN reported on Monday.

The move would reunite quarterback Tebow with the coach who selected him in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was then coach of the Denver Broncos.

In his second season, Tebow took over as Denver’s starting passer in the fourth week of the 2011 season and sparked the Broncos to a surprise division crown and a first-round playoff upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite his celebrity, in part for his evangelical views and a kneeling move that became known as “Tebowing”, he was traded to the New York Jets for two draft picks.

In 12 games with the Jets last season, Tebow was used in a variety of roles. Tebow, 25, threw just eight passes and completed only six for 39 yards while running 32 times for 102 yards. He was released by the Jets six weeks ago.
